Financial support for students

MENDEL University system of scholarships

This support is intended for improvement of skills, knowledge, independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and moral values of our students.

Support for gifted students is realized in the following areas:

  • study
  • representation of the university
  • research
  • further education

Who are gifted students?

  • complete their studies earlier than average student
  • excel in study
  • become actively involved in science and research activities and creative work at the university
  • excel in presenting their work at conferences and various competitions (sports, musical, artistic, literary, etc.)

How does university support the gifted students?

  • MUAF's Study and Examination Code allows students to arrange individual study plan and complete their study earlier than the standard length of study
  • excellent results are awarded with merit scholarship or single bonus on completion of study  -- Rector's award, Dean's award, or Dean's honourable mention for final thesis
  • faculty awards special bonus for successful presentation at conference
  • faculty awards special bonus for successful representation of university at sports, musical, art or literary events 
  • consultative form of study, or study at our partner universities abroad
  • participation in research and creative teams according to student's interest and propositions of the institutes

Support for individuals:

  • merit scholarship for excellent study results
  • special scholarship for representing the faculty, or university
  • grant aimed at presenting research results at conferences or in publications (e.g. through Internal grant agency)
  • making use of university/faculty facilities as part of a research team
  • grant for trips abroad in order to carry out research and present research results, or complete final thesis
  • studies in a doctoral degree programme
  • for accommodation or mobility
  • in exceptional cases

Scholarships within international mobility programmes for degree students (is not available for erasmus students or bilateral agreement students) 

Both Czech and International students that study at MENDELU can apply for social scholarship.

Talented students with excellent results can receive merit scholarship.

All international students that study at Mendel University within the framework of Erasmus+ program are entitled to a housing scholarship, which means financial support for their accommodation. To receive the scholarship students have to fill in the "Application for housing scholarship" form that is distributed to them by the International Relations Office. The exact amount that students obtain is subject to the decision of the Rector and is paid at the end of every quarter of the academic year.

All students studying in a full study program at MENDELU that want to spend one or two semesters abroad at some of our partner universities or as a free mover can apply for financial support from MENDELU to cover part of their expenses. The process of selection of applicants takes place at the beginning of every academic year.

Students coming from our partner universities abroad are exempted from paying any tuition fee.

All international students can also buy meals for reduced prices with the ISIC card, which they receive upon their arrival at Mendel University in Brno.

Apart from financial support offered by Mendelu University in Brno, international students can also try to gain scholarship from project of South Moravian Centre for International Mobility that aims to encourage international mobility of students from outside the EU to study at one of  universities in Brno.

Aktion

Aktion Austria - Czech Republic is a programme of bilateral cooperation in education and science at the tertiary level in all disciplines. For students, the AKTION programme offers a number of scholarships for students, including doctoral candidates. More information can be found here.

Erasmus Mundus

Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window project for lot 9 CENTAURI (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan) led by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). More informatuion can be found on project's web site.

South Moravian Centre for International Mobility

Scholarships for students of bachelor's degree

The program offers support for talented students through scholarships and complementary activities. Entry into the program may be granted to graduated students entering the first year of their studies at a university located in the South Moravian region. The student must demonstrate outstanding results in student competitions.

Scholarships for students of doctoral degree

The scholarships are awarded in a competition opened to fresh Ph.D. students of technical and natural sciences enrolled at our partner universities. The program offers a financial contribution to cover the cost of living in order to improve the study conditions of doctoral programs and to encourage students to pursue their postgraduate degree in Brno.

International Visegrad Fund

Scholarships for Citizens of the fol­low­ing coun­tries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, the Russian Federation, Serbia and Ukraine (please note that the same rules are applic­a­ble to Kosovar schol­ars). Successful appli­cants within this scheme will receive schol­ar­ships of EUR 2 300/semester and the cor­re­spond­ing host universities/institutes receive EUR 1 500/semester/scholar. Scholars who will have to travel to the host insti­tu­tion more than 1 500 km are also eli­gi­ble for one-time Travel Grant. More information can be found here.

CEEPUS - Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies III 

CEEPUS is a university exchange programme which supports cooperation between universities especially in the Central European area and is organised within individual university networks. DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a very wide range of scholarships and grants for German students, interns and student trainees, (post)graduates, young academics and researchers wishing to obtain further academic and personal qualifications abroad. More information can be found here.

LLP Erasmus

Erasmus is the EU's flagship education and training programme in the field of higher education. Erasmus study exchanges are based on agreements between individual departments, faculties and universities. More information can be found here.
